October was another busy month for us that just flew by. We started the month off with the Pine Wood Derby. S gets so excited for this every year. Last year (his first year doing the race), he ended up taking 2nd place. So he was sure that he would do well again this year. He ended up somewhere in the middle. He was a little disappointed, but still had a lot of fun making his car and racing it. He did a good job designing and painting it. It was nicknamed the "Stinging Hornet."
I love this picture. He was so into it. I also love the boy next to him with his fingers crossed. The derby is so much fun.
We also made a trip to St. George and to Sand Hollow. We love it so much down there. We always have a blast, and the kids love playing at the beach all day long. We did a couple of hikes while we were there too. The kids love to play around on the rocks and love climbing (something that scares me a bit, but it's fun to see how brave and daring they are.)
This is S on the knee board. He will do anything you tell him. He has no fear.
Unfortunately, this is the only other picture I took. I forgot to bring my camera on the boat most of the time, and forgot to pull it out on the beach. We really did go and have fun. All of the kids tubed too. It was C's first time out, and she loved it. Too bad I didn't have the camera.
This year we got an early snow. Of course the kids wanted to go out and play. C thinks that she can wear skirts and flip-flops year round. So when she went out to play in the snow, this is what she chose to wear. She had different shoes on at first (her church boots), but I was able to talk her into her snow boots. I couldn't help but laugh at how cute she was out there. I thought she would stay out there for a few minutes, but she ended up staying out there for over an hour. She is tougher than me.
Her lovely creations!
At the end of the month, we did some pumpkin decorating with the cousins. The kids really get into this each year. It's fun to see what they come up with.

This year for Halloween we thought it would be fun to show our true colors. The boys in this house are BYU fans, and the girls are Utah fans. Even though it was cold and rainy for trick-or-treating, the kids went out and had a blast. I was more than happy to stay home with D and hand out candy. The kids had fun and brought home a ton of candy.
