Over Memorial weekend we headed out camping. We always look forward to the summer when we get to spend time with family and friends camping. The kids love it and I love how creative they get making up new games and just playing outside. This year we had 7 families in our group and a lot of kids. They all played so well together. We hardly saw them for most of the weekend. They spent a lot of time building a fort about 1/4 mile away from our campsite. They would come back every once in a while for food, but they worked really hard on the fort. We spent a lot of time hanging out, talking and playing games. We also took the kids to catch some crawdads and 4-wheeling. It was a nice relaxing getaway. We are so lucky to have such great friends that we get to camp with. We look forward to many more trips!
When Cam first walked up to me to show me that she was holding a crawdad she was fine, then all of a sudden it started to move, and she freaked out. I asked her if it had pinched her and she said, "No, it was moving." Such a funny kid. By the end she had relaxed enough to hold them without being scared.
Here is Taylor and Drew holding the crawdads. They both were a little unsure at first, but by the end they were having fun.
And Sky of course thought it was fun to torture people with his crawdad. He actually had it hooked on to him at one point.
All the kids had a blast riding the 4-wheelers.
I threw this picture in because we got out a kite and let the kids fly it while the others were catching crawdads and 4-wheeling. When it was time to go, Sky was winding it back in and he let go of it. He took off after that kite so fast, we couldn't see him. After a bit, Andrew went to look for him. After 10 minutes, a friend went to look for them. Finally 20 minutes later they came back with the kite. I don't think that the kite was worth that much effort, but oh well.
Finally, here is a picture of the fort. The kids found some chicken wire and went hunting all over for the leaves for the ground cover. We'll have to go back to this same camping spot sometime and see if the fort is still standing.
